Experience

During a career in non-profit fundraising spanning nearly 20 years, ASA Consulting’s Principal, Andrew Shackett, has developed expertise in managing foundation fundraising programs and in providing strategic counsel to non-profits seeking capital campaign and endowment feasibility studies and implementation, fundraising audits, and growth oriented plans.

Mr. Shackett’s foundation fundraising experience includes developing strategies to expand existing private and corporate foundation revenues; creating programs where no institutional funding existed previously; preparing written material including proposals, letters of inquiry and progress reports that help tell an organization’s story; and strategizing with staff and board leadership to assess opportunities to increase grants from current funders and identify new prospects.

With regard to capital and endowment campaigns and fundraising audits and plans, Mr. Shackett’s breadth of experience includes preparing case statements outlining campaign goals, conducting feasibility study interviews to test the case for support, and presenting written reports outlining strategies for implementing campaigns. In addition, he has frequently prepared written assessments outlining concrete steps on how to expand and strengthen fundraising capacity.

Prior to serving as a fundraising consultant, Mr. Shackett held senior development positions in the human services and educational arenas. He is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and has been a Fund Raising Day New York Executive Committee member and presenter, and has served on the Board and Executive Committee of AFP, Greater New York Chapter.  Mr. Shackett is a founding board member of the New York City AIDS Memorial.
